Abstract

Regional anesthesia has become a cornerstone in modern perioperative care, offering numerous benefits over general anesthesia, including reduced opioid consumption, enhanced recovery, and lower risk of postoperative complications. This review aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of recent advancements in regional anesthesia techniques, including the use of ultrasound-guided blocks, continuous peripheral nerve blocks, and the growing role of local anesthetics with prolonged action. We explore the impact of these innovations on patient outcomes such as pain management, mobility, and overall recovery times. Furthermore, we examine the challenges of implementing these techniques in clinical practice, particularly in resource-limited settings, and highlight the future directions of research aimed at improving safety and efficacy.
